Cover Puppies is a weekly post here on Pivot Book Reviews, where I combine my extreme love for my doggies and YA books, and recreate my favorite book covers!
This week, I am featuring...
(Gentry!)
The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski!!
FROM GOODREADS:
Winning what you want may cost you everything you love.As a general's daughter in a vast empire that revels in war and enslaves those it conquers, seventeen-year-old Kestrel has two choices: she can join the military or get married. But Kestrel has other intentions.
One day, she is startled to find a kindred spirit in a young slave up for auction. Arin's eyes seem to defy everything and everyone. Following her instinct, Kestrel buys him- with unexpected consequences. It's not long before she has to hide her growing love for Arin.
But he, too, has a secret, and Kestrel quickly learns that the price she paid for a fellow human is much higher than she ever could have imagined.
Set in a richly imagined new world, The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutkoski is a story of deadly games where everything is at stake, and the gamble is whether you will keep your head or lose your heart.
(Available on March 4th, 2012)
I also planned on featuring a something new on Cover Puppies this week, where I would re-enact a scene from the book. However, things didn't go quite as planned this week, mostly due to not being able to find certain props in my mess of a house. HOPEFULLY (finger's crossed) I will have something a little better next week for you guys!! So stay tuned, and without further rambling, here is a picture of Gentry posing as Kestrel with her sheets of music!
Also if you like cover recreations, Kristen from My Friends Are Fiction also redid the cover of The Winner's Curse last week, but with....wait for it....LEGOS!! Seriously, her and her husband's Lego Cover Art is the bomb (dot COM)!!! Go check it out guys!
I was lucky enough to be gifted an ARC of this at the first of them year, and ERMAGOD! You HAVE to read this book! It's definitely going on my Top 2014 reads list!! So stop back by tomorrow to see my review of The Winner's Curse, and don't forget to enter my giveaways (links are in the sidebar to your right!)
