Expanding Blogging Horizons
What do you think about when you think about going beyond blogging or expanding your horizons? Is it a redesign of your blog? Have you branched out into freelance writing or even published a novel of your very own? Or, have you moved into a different venue like podcasts or vlogging? This is the day to tell us about how you have expanded on blogging in your own unique way.

Novellas/Short Stories
Now it is time to give a little love to those little stories in your life. Share your love for your favorite shorts of any form. What is a short story or novella that doesn’t get the attention that it deserves? Recommend to readers what shorts you would recommend they start with. How about listing some short story anthologies based upon genres or authors?

Both of these topics are really hard for me to discuss, but as far as expanding blogging horizons goes, I have tried vlogging, and it's really fun, but I just think I'm better behind the scenes instead of in front of a screen if you get what I'm saying. Words just sound better coming from my hands than my mouth.

I try to go beyond blogging about just book reviews by incorporating Cover Puppies (check out the tab above!) and just talking about bookish topics. I don't want everything on my blog just to be reviews. I want to interact with people as well!

I do actually write in my spare time. I'm working on my second novel, but I haven't even attempted querying or anything like that. I have to brave edits before that can happen. But it will happen, hopefully soon!

**

Novellas aren't really my thing.

Of course, it's kind of hypocritical for me to say that when I've never read one, but the thing about me is.. well, I'm a physical book reader. I do not own a kindle. I do not read books on my computer. Just physical books. I talk a little more about that here

However, I did just recently purchase my very first bound book of novellas! YAY! I am obsessed with the Throne of Glass series (anyone else??), so I knew I had to get my hands on The Assassin's Blade! It will be my very first novella experience, so we'll see how that goes! Also, this is another reason I'm not happy about not being at BEA14. I NEEDZ HEIR OF FIRE!!!! *grumbles and sobs*

Yep, I'm totally with you there. I fear my hands would probably still be trying to talk if I vlogged...

Oh my goodness, Cover Puppies! The Cress one is pretty much awesome.

  2. that's brave of you to try v-logging. I'd be such a nervous wreck that I wouldn't be able to get a sentence together that made any sense - by the time we got to take 250 I think it would be time for me to quit :)

  3. I LOVED the prequel novellas for Throne of Glass. They are just so enjoyable! I also really love The Emperor's Soul by Brandon Sanderson (which is also out in physical form, not just on the Kindle). That is pretty much perfection if you ask me!

  5. LOVE the cover puppies! as does my dog Sylvie! I can read reviews faster than I can watch the,, so Vlogging doesn't have much appeal to me. It's good to think about expanding from time to time. Even that can keep us fresh.

    1. Aw thank you!!! I agree about reading blogs faster. I guess that's part of the reason vlogging hasn't really taken off for me.

  6. I've been thinking about exploring video blogging. My new job will require travel so I thought it might be a fun new thing to do.

  9. I felt the same way about novellas until I got an iPad! Then I thought "Well, I technically have an eReader now so I guess I'll try it out..." :P I've only read a few that filled in gaps in my favourite series. I think that's a good use of the form. It sounds like The Assassin's Blade does that; I hope you enjoy it!
