FROM GOODREADS: Lara Jean's love life goes from imaginary to out of control in this heartfelt novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Summer I Turned Pretty series.
What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them... all at once?
Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren't love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she's written. One for every boy she's ever loved- five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean's love life goes from imaginary to out of control.
MY THOUGHTS:
Dear To All The Boys I've Loved Before,
First of all, I find it very fitting that I'm writing your review via letter form. Although, I'm sure this letter isn't half as entertaining as Lara Jean's. I loved reading them, and her brutal (hilarious) honesty. At first, I thought you were a stand-alone, but thankfully, I found out when I was nearing your end that you are part of a duology. Can I just say that I need part dos like right now?! How could you end like that? HOW?! IT'S KILLING ME!!
As for the boys, I was definitely rooting for Josh at the beginning, but somehow, Jenny Han made me root for the most unlikely guy about half way through. I mean, I am in full on love/lust with this guy. I won't say who it is, because I don't want spoilers, but *FANS SELF* HOW DID YOU MAKE ME WANT THIS GUY SO BAD, JENNY HAN? (Also, can I have one? Pretty please?)
Not only did I fall in love with the boys, but also the family dynamic presented inside your beautiful pages. It's not very often you see a family like Lara Jean's in a YA novel, and for that being a huge aspect of you, I thank you.
Overall, you are one of my favorite contemporaries of the year, To All The Boys I've Loved Before, and that's saying something, because I've been reading quite a few amazing contemps this year. Your swoon inducing boys and cozy down-to-earth family dynamics made me feel ALL THE FEELS!!! You popped my Jenny Han cherry, and now I can't get enough of her writing. I need more pronto, and I plan on buying others ASAP, and that's the reason why I'm giving you five hearts!
Love always and forever,
Becca
P.S. ICYMI: I recreated your cover with my pups a few weeks ago!! Be sure to check it out!
