FROM GOODREADS: The Pre-Sloane Emily didn't go to parties, she barely talked to guys, she didn't do anything crazy. Enter Sloane, social tornado and the best kind of best friend- the one who yanks you out of your shell. But right before what should have been an epic summer, Sloane just... disappears. No note. No calls. No texts. No Sloane. There's just a random to-do list. On it, thirteen Sloane-selected-definitely-bizarre-tasks that Emily would never try... unless they could lead her back to her best friend. Apple picking at night? Ok, easy enough. Dance until Dawn? Sure. Why not? Kiss a Stranger? Wait... what?

Getting through Sloane's list would mean a lot of firsts. But Emily has this whole unexpected summer ahead of her, and the help of Frank Porter (totally unexpected) to check things off. Who knows what she'll find?

Go Skinny Dipping? Um...

MY THOUGHTS:

Dear Since You've Been Gone,

You were one of those books that I wanted to read as slowly as humanly possible, because I knew once I reached that final page, I would have no more of you to look forward to. Even though, I sincerely wanted to read you that way, it just wasn't possible for me to limit myself. I couldn't stay away from you. Well, I take that back. The only time I stayed away from you was when I couldn't get that dang Kelly Clarkson song out of my head!!

Emily was one of those characters that I instantly bonded with, and related to. My personality is spot on with Emily's. I rely on my best friends just like she did with Sloane. I'm incredibly shy, and I have to be pushed into doing things. I would've been just as devastated as Emily if my best friend had just up and left the way Sloane did. It's like losing a part of your soul when you lose your best friend.

But that list? It was epic. I want a list like that. Although, I'm not sure I would've accomplished everything on it. Emily goes through so many adventures because of that list, that she otherwise wouldn't have if she hadn't received it. She meets new friends, and an off-limits guy. You had that slow burn romance thing goin' on, Since You've Been Gone, and personally, I think that's the best kind of romance. It makes me read you even faster because I just want to get to the part where they finally just kiss!

You were my very first Morgan Matson book, since I've recently been obsessed with any and all things Contemporary, which is also a first for me, but I've found a new favorite author to add to my ever-growing list. I will be purchasing more of your fab author's books, because let's face it, she rocks my socks! All in all, you were simply fantastic, and I just wish I had more of Emily's adventures to look forward to. One can hope, right? I will be telling EVERYONE to pick you up. I'm pretty sure they will thank me in the end, and for that reason, I give you FIVE hearts. You deserve it, Since You've Been Gone!

But unlike Kelly Clarkson, I won't be moving on from you. You will be in my mind for some time, I think...

Love always and forever,

Becca
