FROM GOODREADS: Samantha is a stranger in her own life. Until the night she disappeared with her best friend, Cassie, everyone said Same had it all- popularity, wealth, and a dream boyfriend.

Sam has resurfaced, but she has no recollection of who she was or what happened to her that night. As she tries to piece together her life from before, she realizes it's one she no longer wants any part of. The old Sam took "mean girl" to a whole new level, and it's clear she and Cassie were more like best enemies. She's getting a second chance at being a better daughter, sister, and friend, and she's falling hard for Carson Oritz, a boy who has always looked out for her- even if the old Sam treated him like trash.

But Cassie is still missing, and the facts about what happened to her that night isn't just buried deep inside of Sam's memory- someone else knows, someone who wants to make sure Sam stays quiet. All Sam wants is the truth, and if she can unlock her clouded memories of that fateful night, she can finally move on. But what if not remembering is the only thing keeping Sam alive?

MY THOUGHTS:

Dear Don't Look Back,

As soon as I saw your author's name, I knew, without a doubt in my mind, that I would love you. You see, Jennifer Armentrout is a spectacular writer, and every other book she's written? Yeah, I love them all. Well, the ones I've read so far at least! You were no different.

Right away, I got swept up in Sam's story. I couldn't imagine not remembering anything about myself, whatsoever. Sam couldn't even remember her name. That must have been terrifying. Plus, just having to blindly trust random people who say they are your parents/friends/significant other? Yeah, I'm not sure how anyone could handle that traumatic event, but Sam did. She struggled a little bit on the way, but she shouldered through finding out she was basically the biggest bitch in town. I cringed every time I found out another horrible thing Sam did, but was happy to know she knew she was a horrible person to everyone before and tried to correct her ways. KUDOS TO YOU, Sam!

As for the boys? Yeah, JLA knows what she's doing with them too. I was really excited that for once, the main swoon-worthy boy was a good guy. I mean, don't get me wrong- bad boys are all the rage, and I love them just as much as the next person, but it's refreshing to see a boy with a good heart that drives a motorcycle. Gosh, Don't Look Back, I just wanted to push Sam and Carson's faces together so many times. I ship this couple so hard, because Sam's original bf? UGH ASDFJKL; I just wanted to punch him in the face.

I don't read mysteries very much, but I made the exception for you, Don't Look Back. Mainly because of who wrote you, but I'm so glad I did. You were everything I hoped you would be. Lots of action, lots of questions, tons and tons of suspense, and how can I forget the lustworthy scenes in between? ;) Honestly, I was surprised at the killer reveal. I had a few ideas of who I thought it might be, but I didn't question who it actually was once. Bravo, JLA. You had me switching suspects left and right! Don't Look Back, you were a book that I will look back on in the future, because I want to reread you! FOUR HEARTS!!

Always looking back at you,

Becca

  1. This isn't creepy, right? Because I've heard that it is, but reading your review makes me think it's not. So I'm not sure. Haha. I haven't really read JLA books so I pretty much know nothing about her. But I'm thinking of checking this one out.

    1. Hmm I didn't really think it was creepy. I suppose some things could be considered creepy if you get scared easily, but it wasn't anything that freaked me out honestly. *GASP* You haven't read any JLA books?! You need to check her out asap!!!!!

  2. YAY! So happy to hear you loved this one! I also totally loved it even if I wasn't entirely sure about it.
But I was so happy to totally love it to bits and to be kept guessing and be totally surprised about who the killer really was!
And Sam, my dear Sam! I love how she decided to be a different person than the one she was before her amnesia, instead of just falling back to what she was supposed to be.
    Fantastic review, Becca!

    1. I'm so glad you loved it too!!!! I know! It's hard to find a book that constantly keeps me guessing but this one totally did it! I was not expecting it to be who it was AT ALL.
I loved that part too! I couldn't believe how horrible she was before!
