Extra Special Stephanie Perkins #GIVEAWAY

ANOTHER GIVEAWAY?!
Am I crazy? Well, no, dear readers, I'm not! ;)

 
I had the amazing opportunity to go to a Stephanie Perkins signing here in Oklahoma City last night, and I figured I would do something super special for you! Stephanie is the absolute sweetest. I think this was hands down the best signing I've been to. This was my first event to attend that was put on by the Metropolitan Library System and it was simply fantastic! They even gave all the attendees a free copy of Lola and the Boy Next Door!! Of course, I already have a copy of Lola, so you know what that means, right? (If not, stick around til the bottom of this post)
Besides being incredible sweet, Stephanie is a fantastic speaker. The group we were in was rather small (20ish people), so it was a pretty intimate conversation. She gave a ton of great advice for writers (YAY), and then spoke a little bit about the depression she went through that caused Isla to be pushed back so much. I seriously commend her for speaking out against a somewhat taboo subject. Depression happens. It needs to be talked about. She made me feel like I wasn't alone in this world. I wasn't the only one suffering. 

After her hour of talking was up, we got to get our books signed. I think this might have been my favorite part, because she sat and talked to each individual for roughly five minutes each, which isn't something that authors normally do. It meant so much to me and my mom. If you follow me on instagram/twitter, you might know that I painted a LOLA tote just for this signing. When I pulled it out for her to sign, she just sat there and stared at it for a few minutes. She kind of pet it a bit, and when she found out that I painted it, she gushed and gushed. It was such an amazing thing! I'm still basking in all of the awesomeness!
