Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine, where you can spotlight an upcoming release you're eagerly anticipating!
This week I'm waiting on:

The Devil You Know by Trish Doller
Releases on: June 2nd, 2015 ADD IT TO GOODREADS!

FROM GOODREADS: Arcadia "Cadie" Wells has one primary goal in life -- to escape the sleepy Florida town where she was born and raised. Since her mother's death, she's sacrificed her boyfriend, her spot on the soccer team, and even her plans for the future to raise her little brother and help her still-grieving father. On a rare night out at a party at the local state park, Cadie meets a couple of good-looking tourists and impulsively agrees to join them on their road trip from one end of Florida to the other. But when their adventure goes tragically wrong, Cadie's new goal is to make it home alive.
Why I'm Waiting:

1. DAT COVER.
2. Dude. This is a thriller, and I'm currently obsessed with YA THRILLERS.
3. What the heck goes wrong? Are the tourists killers? Kidnappers? Cannibals? MY MIND IS GOING CRAZY WITH ALL THE POSSIBILITIES!
4. It's in Florida, which is where my bestie lives, and I've never been or really read many books set there so I'm excited to see more of it through a book's POV!

FROM GOODREADS: There are whispers of a ghost in the slaughterhouse where sixteen-year-old Wen assists her father in his medical clinic- a ghost who grants wishes to those who need them most. When on of the Noor, men hired as cheap factory labor, humiliates Wen, she makes an impulsive wish of her own, and the Ghost grants it. Brutally.

Guilt-ridden, Wen befriends the Noor, including their outspoken leader, a young man named Melik. At the same time, she is lured by the mystery of the Ghost and learns he has been watching her... for a very long time.

As deadly accidents fuel tensions within the factory, Wen must confront her growing feelings for Melik, who is enraged at the sadistic factory bosses and the prejudice faced by his people at the hand of Wen's, and her need to appease the Ghost, who is determined to protect her against any threat- real or imagined. She must decide whom she can trust, because as her heart is torn, the factory is exploding around her... and she might go down with it.

MY THOUGHTS:

Dear Of Metal and Wishes,

WOWZA. That was my first reaction to you. I seriously could NOT put you down, which really surprises me, because when you first released, you were just a blip on my radar. I mean, sure, you have a gorgeous cover, but I hadn't seen much about you. Then I saw a few fangirly reviews, and happened to see you sitting on the shelf at my local bookstore, practically begging me to buy you. I couldn't resist. I'll admit one of the main reasons was because you are pegged as a Phantom of the Opera retelling, and even though I have never seen/read Phantom of the Opera, I am an avid lover of any and all retellings because they rock my socks, and you are seriously one of my faves.

Going into you, I thought you were a stand alone, but I am oh so happy to say that you are part of a duology. THANK THE LORD. I NEED MORE. *ahem* So I guess you were a mix of fantasy as well, which was even more awesome. Wen lives in a slaughterhouse with her dad , who is the medic and she helps him out with all the nasty and gruesome injuries. You do not fail at all with all the goriness, Of Metal and Wishes. I felt like there should've been blood stains on every page of you. So you aren't very much for the faint of heart or easily grossed out, but I still think if someone can overlook that, then they definitely need to read you. Anyways, there's a ghost that lives in this factory and people leave it gifts to grant their wishes. Wen makes a half-hearted wish, knowing that it won't ever come true, but then it does. She is filled with regret and guilt after it does, and decides to befriend the incoming foreign Noor, who every one despises, in hopes of redemption. Not such a good idea, because then all of her friends turn on her, but I loved that Wen went out of her way to help people that weren't her own, and desperately needed all the help they could get. The Noor are slaves, and everyone practically hates them. Enter Melik, the leader of the Noor, and the swoony boy that Wen starts to develop feelings for. FORBIDDEN ROMANCE?! Oh my gosh, you know the way to my heart.

And that Ghost? Que epic creepiness. Seriously loved how your story line played out, and I'm dying for the next book to release. WHY SO FAR AWAY?! Ugh. Oh well, your sibling will definitely be worth the wait.

You have SO much drama, mystery, and suspense, Of Metal and Wishes. You definitely stand out in my mind with a fresh retelling. You are unlike anything I have ever read before, and one of the best books I've read this year. Two words. Hauntingly beautiful. FIVE HEARTS.

Buying all your author's other books RIGHT NOW,

Becca

Waiting on Wednesday (31)

Wednesday, September 10, 2014 7

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine, where you can spotlight an upcoming release you're eagerly anticipating!

This week I'm waiting on:

The Fill-In Boyfriend by Kasie West
Releases on: May 5th, 2015    ADD IT TO GOODREADS!

FROM GOODREADS: When Gia Montgomery's boyfriend, Bradley, dumps her in the parking lot of her high school prom, she has to think fast. After all, she'd been telling her friends abou thim for months now. This was supposed to be the night she proved he existed. So when she sees a cute guy waiting to pick up his sister, she enlists his help. The task is simple: be her fill-in boyfriend-- two hours, zero commitment, a few white lies. After that, she can win back the real Bradley.

The probelm is that days after prom, it's not the real Bradley she's thinking about, but the stand-in. The one whose name she doesn't even know. But tracking him down doesn't mean they're done faking a relationship. Gia owes him a favor and his sister intends to see that he collects: his ex-girlfriend's graduation party-- three hours, zero commitment, a few white lies.

Just when Gia begins to wonder if she could turn her fake boyfriend into a real one, Bradley comes waltzing back into her life, exposing her lie, and threatening to destroy her friendships and new-found relationship.

WHY I'M WAITNG:

1. DAT COVER. Isn't it beautiful?!
2. It's KASIE FREAKING WEST aka my favorite-est author everrrrrr. (Pssst read her books. You can thank me later!)
3. I like the idea of her falling for a guy who she doesn't even know. This sounds like some 90's movie that I would've watched over and over and over (and over)
4. I see cars in the background, and I like me some cars (I own a 68 Camaro!) so I'd really like to find out how they play into this story.

What do you think of my WoW?

Black Ice Tote & ARC Giveaway! (& an explanation for my somewhat absentness!)

Tuesday, September 9, 2014 3
Well, hello, my lovelies!

Wait, you might be wondering what the deal is. Who is this person? Where has she been lately? I've missed her tons!

Well, for that, I have to say I'm so so so sorry. I've been really crappy about uploading blog posts/reviews lately. I didn't really want to talk about why, but I have a few reasons. Well, first, I recently read an MS that I wrote last year, and have been deep in editing mode, because believe it or not, it was actually quite good. I'd been dreading this for awhile, because I thought it was a load of crap, but I had the weekend off and just decided to dive in. It definitely was a lot less horrible than I was expecting, and I've been stuck in that world for a little bit lately. (Actually, a lot) But still, it feels great to finally be writing something again. Who knows? I may even submit it to SwoonReads this month. Nikki Kelly & Temple West (and countless others) are urging me to, so this may be the first time I succumb to peer pressure!

Anyway.... the second reason, if you haven't noticed lately, I created an Etsy shop about a month ago! Yes, yes I know. Some of you might not know that I enjoy painting/drawing in my spare time, but now you do! I started painting bookish totes as a side gig, just to do something special for some close friends, but they were a hit on the interwebz, and suddenly, everybody wanted one. So to say I've been busy would be a complete understatement.

I've been swamped!!!!

But the good thing is, all the proceeds I make from selling my bookish totes are going to send me to BEA next year so I can meet some of you IRL! EEP! I can hardly contain my excitement, because with each tote I paint, I get closer to making that goal, and I'm quite close actually! Thanks to all of you!!!

Okay. Now to the good stuff.

Over the recent months, I've been contributing reviews over on Reading Teen (so if you miss me on here, you can check over there and usually there's something to satisfy your missing Becca needs!), and I love it, and Andye. We've become great friends, and I'm dying to meet her! I've already warned her that she's going to be mauled by hugs, because seriously she is the sweetest person I've ever met! <3

After I read & LOVED (actually fangirled over in my review) Black Ice by Becca Fitzpatrick, we decided to do a giveaway. Not just any giveaway but one that was extra special for all of you anticipating the release of Black Ice. Ready to see what it is?

Heck yeah. I totes (haha get it) had to paint a Black Ice tote after all my love-age of that book.

So not only do you get an original handpainted (by yours truly) Black Ice tote, but Andye (because she pretty fantastic) also has an ARC of Black Ice up for grabs with it!!

You seriously do NOT want to miss out on your chance to win! Enter away, my friends! Alas this giveaway is for US ONLY, because unfortunately, Andye & I haven't completed World Domination yet, and are still lowly bloggers who aren't rich. I wish I was though. ONE DAY IT WILL HAPPEN! Til then, you can check out my Etsy and custom order a tote or even a pre-made one. I hear the Fangirl, Eleanor & Park, and Ruin & Rising totes are quite a hit. But don't take my word for it. Go see for yourself!

DON'T FORGET TO GO READ ANDYE'S POST EITHER!
(Seriously, it made me cry it's so sweet!)

P.S. Did you notice anything different about the blog? WHAT IS THIS ADORABLE PUPPY NESS?! Well, I won a new custom blog design from Stephanie @ ThesePaperHearts, and didn't she do a fabulous job?! Completely perfect for Pivot Book Reviews! Thanks again Stephanie!

P.P.S Still want some more bookish tote-ness? (Look at all the customs here, here, AND here. I think that's all of them!) <3
