FROM GOODREADS: The girl knows she's different. She doesn't age. She has no family. She has visions of a past life, but no clear clues as to what she is, or where she comes from. But there is a face in her dreams -- a light that breaks through the darkness. She knows his name is Gabriel.

On her way home from work, the girl encounters an injured stranger whose name is Jonah. Soon, she will understand that Jonah belongs to a generation of Vampires that serve even darker forces. Jonah and the few like him, are fighting with help from an unlikely ally- a rouge Angel, named Gabriel.

In the crossfire between good and evil, love and hate, and life and death, the girl learns her name: Lailah. But when the lines between black and white begin to blur, where in the spectrum will she find her place? And with whom?

Gabriel and Jonah both want to protect her. But Lailah will have to fight her own battle to find out who she truly is.

MY THOUGHTS:

Dearest Lailah,

Oh boy! Or should I say boys? I think that's more appropriate for you! I've never ever ever found myself so torn between two guys in a book. I have absolutely no clue who I want Lailah to choose: the Angel, Gabriel, or the Vampire, Jonah. *fans self* Seriously, throughout your entirety I was going back and forth! I couldn't blame Lailah for doing the same thing! So for now, I'm going to say I'm on the fence on who I want your characters to end up with.

Let's back up a bit, and talk about what you're actually about, Lailah. Basically your main character is a girl who dies and comes back to life. She doesn't know why or what she is, only that she dreams of the same guy every night and his name is Gabriel and that sometimes, she has memories from her past lives. Then against better judgement, the girl rescues a Vampire named Jonah and then ends up in a fight with Angels, specifically the one from her dream (Gabriel) and crazy scary Vampires, and all of them want her dead for unknown reasons. In other words, you're pretty cray cray, Lailah, and also very epic!

Your author, Nikki, knows how to write swoonworthy guys too. OMG. I don't think I've ever not cared about instalove/a love triangle before, because it totes works in your story, Lailah. Your MC Lailah is confused about herself, so it's no wonder she's confused about these two super hot guys in her life now that want to take care of her. I really enjoyed reading about all their shenanigans. The other Vampires in the clan really grew on me as well. You weren't what I was expecting at all. You're definitely a new spin on the Vampire trope, which couldn't make me any happier, and the only reason I'm giving you four hearts instead of five is because it took me a bit to get to that hook part of you, Lailah, but once I hit it, I WAS HOOKED! My advice to readers is to keep on reading, because I promise it will be worth it. It may just take a tiny bit longer than you expect. Lailah, you're a book not to be missed!

Packing to go meet your author,

Becca

Have you read Lailah?
Are you looking forward to it?
Let's discuss!

WHAT'S HAPPENING IN BECCA LAND?

Well, this week has been rough. I'm writing this on Wednesday evening and I've been battling a sinus infection/fever the past day and a half. I'm so exhausted and just want to sleep all day! Bleh. Here's hoping I'll be feeling a little better come the weekend, because I'm slammed with bouncy castle rentals! On top of that, I have five totes to paint, which I'm really excited about. Four of them are for an author and her new book, and I think they are going to turn out pretty fabulous, simply because the cover is fabulous!! I'm going to a book signing with a few fellow Oklahoma bloggers to see Gena Showalter on Friday night. I met her about 2-3 years ago, and she is super sweet, but I'm really looking forward to hanging out with some bookish friends! Most of whom I have yet to meet in person, but luckily that will all be changing soon. As soon as I have a chance, I'll be sure to post pics and all that. I've also been getting stuff together for next week, because my mom and I are road tripping to Dallas for the Fierce Reads signing with Nikki Kelly, Marissa Meyer, Jessica Brody, and Gennifer Albin! EEEEP! SO SO SO STOKED FOR THIS!!! It's about a 3 1/2 hour drive, and we are just going to drive down, stay for the signing, and come back but I'm extremely excited about it. I also bought a ton of new business cards to hand out that match the new blog design and I can hardly handle how freaking adorable they are! OMG! Anyways, I think that's about all that's been going on. I hope ya'll are all doing fabulous! I think I'm going to try to start reading  Belzhar by Meg Wolitzer tonight. What are you reading?

AREN'T THEY ADORBS?! OMG

Waiting on Wednesday (33)

Wednesday, October 1, 2014 5

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking the Spine, where you can spotlight an upcoming release you're eagerly anticipating!

This week I'm waiting on:

Liars, Inc by Paula Stokes
Releases on: March 24th, 2015 ADD IT TO GOODREADS!!

FROM GOODREADS: It all starts with one little lie...

Max Cantrell has never been a big fan of the truth, so when the opportunity arises to sell lies to his classmates, it sounds like a good way to make a little money and liven up a boring senior year. With the help of his friends Preston and Parvati, Max starts a business providing forged permission slips and cover stories for the students of Vista Palisades High. Liars, Inc. they call it. Suddenly everybody needs something and the cash starts pouring in. Who knew lying could be so lucrative?

When Preston wants his own cover story to go visit a girl he met online, Max doesn't think twice about hooking him up. Until Preston never comes home. Then the evidence starts to pile up-- terrifying clues that lead the cops to Preston's body. Terrifying clues that point to Max as the murderer.

Can Max find the real killer before he goes to prison for a crime he didn't commit? Paula Stokes starts with one single white lie and weaves a twisted tale that will have readers guessing until the explosive final chapters.

Why I'm Waiting:

1. DAT COVER.
2. It's Paula Stokes. I would buy her grocery lists. Seriously. (psst. READ THE ART OF LAINEY NOW IF YOU HAVEN'T!!!)
3. Liars. This is going to get interesting really quick.
4. DUDE. Wtf?! His best friend gets murdered?! DYING to know what the heck really happened!!!

What do you think of my WoW?
What is your WoW for this week?
Let me know in the comments, and be sure to leave me a link so I can come back and leave you some comment love!
